Supporting Veterans In Sustainable Farming

Supporting Veterans In Sustainable Farming

I call gardening my therapy and for good reason, troubles seem to disappear while I am working and tending to my plants. No wonder then that the Farmer-Veteran Coalition is such a success. The Coalition works to connect returning veterans with employment, training, and a chance to “heal” while working on America’s farms. The Coalition is also a community partner supporting the documentary film and social action campaign known as “Ground Operations” which champions the growing network of combat veterans who are transitioning into careers as sustainable farmers, ranchers and artisan food producers. The documentary Ground Operations: Battlefields to Farmfields launched on iTunes and Google Play last month making it available to rent or own. Ground Operations social action campaign also hosts national audience engagement events featuring a screening of the film, farm-fresh food and farmer-veteran speakers.
