Wine Industry Scholarships

Students..it's time to get busy applying for scholarships. Over $20,000 is available this year from the Washington Wine Industry Foundation for students studying viticulture, enology or related disciplines. Kacie Thrift, Communications Coordinator

WA Wine Industry Foundation explains.

THRIFT: It's pretty simple. They just hope onto the website. On the left side there is a little column for them to click scholarships and they can fill out the application. it doesn't have to be at our office by June 1st but it needs to be postmarked by June 1st. There are three different types of scholarships people can apply for. One is the Clore scholarships and another one is the Horse Heaven Hills scholarship and then we have a new one this year which is the WWIF scholarship.

THRIFT: The WWIF scholarship, we just established it in June 2013. It's an endowed fund by the WWIF board of directors so this year we are going to be able to do five different scholarships for $3000 which is a pretty big amount which is great for students. And then the Walter Clore scholarship; that one was established in 1997 by WAWGG and the number of awards is determined annually and scholarships range from $500 to $2000. And then the Horse Heaven Hills one is the one that is a little more restricted on who can apply for it. It's for students who are residents of Benton, Klickitat or Yakima counties and that's two scholarships for $1500.
