Apple Month. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.
Did you know that October is National Apple Month?
BRANNEN: It is indeed National Apple Month so always a fun time of the year for us.

BRANNEN: And that is when we are really coming into stride as far as the harvest, a lot of buzz. People are going out and starting to pick apples; you're seeing more varieties available at retail and in farm stands so very exciting. It's the time of year when consumers relate apples to what they're eating whether it's cooking apples in pies or pairing them with different foods or putting them in school lunch boxes or doing ciders or so forth.
As mentioned on Friday, they have brought back the AppletizeMe.com website and added a fun quiz online that also ties in with social media.
BRANNEN: The quiz is available at AppletizeMe.com. From there consumers can actually take that quiz and post it to their social media and send of their email and we're doing prizes for the next 6 weeks. Really fun. Really engaging. I shared it on my own Facebook page and all of my friends seemed to like taking the quiz and finding out more about apples and when they take the quiz, at the end of that there's a component where we suggest recipe or food pairings.
