Vineyard Management Workshops

Vineyard Management Workshops

Vineyard Management Workshops. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Washington State University Snohomish County Extension is presenting the second and third in a series of hands-on workshops July 18 and Sept. 19 that will cover summer and autumn vineyard care specific to western Washington wine grape regions. Kate Halstead with WSU Extension.

HALSTEAD: We try to do this every year or couple of years where we just kind of go through the whole management system throughout the season of what you would do in your vineyard in any given time based on the time of the season. In the spring we covered dormant season care with pruning and training, that sort of thing. Now with the summer vineyard management one that we'll be doing July 18th we are looking at the principals of canopy and crop load management.

Hands-on learning will continue at a nearby vineyard guided by expert viticulturist Gary Moulton. Cost for the workshops is $40.

HALSTEAD: Easiest way is to just go to Brown paper Tickets. The URL for that is vineyard care...all one word, dot brownpapertickets.com or you can go to our website and download a form and send it in with a check and our website is snohomish.wsu.edu.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network of the West.
