Staying "Ahead of the Curve – Competing in a Labor Shortage." That's the theme of this year's WAFLA Labor Conference in Yakima tomorrow.

Registration for the all-day event starts at 7:30 and then WAFLA Director Dan Fazio kicks off the meeting at 8:30 at the Yakima Convention Center...

DAN FAZIO ... "This is for seasonal employers, owners of the company, HR directors, and senior HR management. It's leadership, motivational, and legal skills. We've got a jam-packed schedule with breakouts and general sessions and motivational speakers, seven attorneys and then leaders in the field from all over the country."

Fazio says there have been a lot of changes that make this labor conference different and worth attending ...

DAN FAZIO ... "The thing that separates this conference from others is that it's a hands-on conference. People are going to get documents that they can use. They're going to get a document that tells them exactly what to do if a person knocks on their door next week and says, I'm from ICE and need, dot-dot-dot, and so those are the kinds of things that we do. We talk about harassment prevention, we talk about leave accommodations. So, when we talk about leave accommodations we say, what happens if a person has a medical condition and then wants to take family medical leave act along-side of that? What kind of accommodations do you need to make and here's the check list, here's how you do it, here's the forms, etcetera?"

Tune in tomorrow and find out more about this year's WAFLA Labor Conference and the competitive farm labor market you'll be facing in the months ahead.
