With today's Fruit Grower Report, I'm Bob Larson. With our New Year now well-underway, folks in Central Washington can reflect on the recent holiday season where, once again, employees at Stemilt Growers played the part of good ole Saint Nick to help make the Christmas season just a little bit brighter for dozens of area foster children.

Stemilt communications manager Brianna Shales says they partnered with another local company to help in their growing holiday effort ...

BRIANNA SHALES ... "So, our employees and then also the employees of SCJ Alliance teamed up to grant presents to foster children from our area which includes Chelan and Douglas counties. It's really exciting to be able to provide children in need with something to wake up to on Christmas day or whatever holiday they celebrate."

Shales says this holiday effort has become an annual event for Stemilt during the season of giving ...

BRIANNA SHALES ... "Yeah, for the past five years, and this is the first year another company stepped in to help out with some of the gifts. And, the reason is, because the number of children and the needs become greater than our employee teams can handle. So, it's really exciting though that so many in the community are giving and there were a lot of giving-back contributions within our community going on for foster children and also other organizations in need at the time."

According to Stemilt's President West Mathison, the generosity of both Stemilt and SCJ Alliance employees helped fill a large room with gifts, and grant wishes for everything from bikes to games, clothes, and more for deserving children.

Listen tomorrow for more on Stemilt's giving spirit.
