Even in agriculture dependant Colorado a lot of kids have very little understanding about where their food comes from.

The Colorado Literacy Project is designed to grow awareness and appreciation for the hard work it takes to bring food to the table.

"Most students now are 4 to 5 generations removed from the land."

Executive Director of Colorado Foundation for Agriculture Bette Blinde

"The purpose of the Literacy Project is to read a book about agriculture to students across the state of Colorado."

Farmers and ranchers are still needed to volunteer to read to students across the state. There is a way to sign up at: www.growingyourfuture.com.

For teachers who would like to have a farmer or rancher come to class and read Little Grandpa and Me, Learning to be a Dairy Farmer there is a link for you too at the same site: www.growingyourfuture.com.

The Colorado Literacy Project will take place from March through May this year.
