11/30/05 Sessions and trade show at the Hort

The 101st annual Washington State Horticultural Association Convention is set to start Monday at the Wenatchee Convention Center. And while there are several programs and speakers lined up to keep the interest of attendees during the three day event, there are some popular staples that remain as part of the itinerary. According to Convention co-organizer Nick Stephens, the popular poster sessions return, and with it, researchers explaining their latest projects. STEPHENS: Last year's poster session was such a success that we asked the managers of that session to come back again. Tory Schmidt and Felipe Castillo from the Research Commission did an excellent job of getting some of the most interesting and current research from across the country. This is also the third year for the growing Spanish language program, scheduled to take place Tuesday and Wednesday of the Convention. STEPHENS: We also have an excellent line-up of speakers for the Spanish language session as well. And then there is the annual trade show as well. The North Central Washington Fieldmen's Association hosts this year's trade show for the Hort Convention, with 120 vendors scheduled to participate on the lower level of the Wenatchee Convention Center. 120 is also the number of scheduled speakers for the Convention from December 5th through 7th.
