**Cited with endangering nearby drinking wells and groundwater with overfilled lagoons, Oregon’s second largest dairy, Lost Valley Farm near Boardman, was given 60 days to remove 13,000 cows and clean their manure management system.

According to agweb.com, after failing to comply with multiple violations, the operation now faces an uncertain future with the state revoking their waste management permit.

Lost Valley Farm has been in operation only 15 months but has received numerous notices from the Oregon Department of Agriculture for improper waste management.

**The multifront trade war reached new heights last week when China enacted $34 billion worth of tariffs on Friday leaving U.S. producers bracing for major export disruptions.

Agri-Pulse reports, the slow-moving trade conflict is already hurting U.S. farmers and ranchers.

Chinese importers have been rejecting U.S. soybeans for months in fear of the 25 percent tariff that China promised, and now Chinese buyers have been canceling dairy and beef shipments.

**Following up on a promise for a top-to-bottom streamlining of the federal government, President Trump is proposing to turn USDA into a much smaller but more focused operation.

Agriculture.com reports, it would become the home of the new agency in charge of all federal food safety, work now split between the USDA and FDA.

Accounting for 70% of USDA’s budget, food stamps, and the Women, Infants and Children food program, would move to the new Department of Health and Public Welfare.
