The Philps cattle ranch is home to Dave and Cindy Philps, their two kids and 250 cows and calves that Dave tends to in partnership with his dad. DAVE "Angus, Shorthorn, Hereford, cross cattle. We're under a lot of pressure. Everybody wants us out, the environmentalists. It's a rough time; we've got a lot of issues right now, every night it could be different issues. You know it's the ranching experience. I grew up on a ranch. It was great. I want my kids to have the same opportunity. We could be off someplace with higher paying jobs right now but we kind of choose to stay here." Everyone knows that children are a big part of YFR. When you live in Challis you have to plan well in advance when its delivery time. CINDY "You have to drive a long way to get there. We had to go to Pocatello to have this one. Salmon is the closest, they don't offer that service, neither does Arco. We had to drive about two and a half hours." And Cindy was proudly showing off R-J the newest Philps addition.
