USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service is ramping up checks on Brazilian beef coming into the U.S.  The heightened screening process means that 100 percent of product coming into the U.S. from the Brazil will be re-inspected before being allowed to enter the country.

agri-pulse.com reports 35 members of Congress have joined a bipartisan congressional beef caucus which is designed to serve as a voice for beef production issues ranging from trade to tax reform. This is not the first time the Caucus has been arranged on Capitol Hill but it does mark the beginning of the caucus for the 115th Congress. Texas Democrat Henry Cuelar will serve as a co-chair and says the caucus should pay special attention to boosting exports: "Trade is important and this is why we just have to do a better job at exporting more, especially because we are the largest producer of beef in the world and as a country, we are only the fourth largest exporter so we just have to do better.” Notice the Congressman referred only to exporting beef and did not address the importing issue. I think this is particularly pertinent given the issue with Brazilian beef.
