Regional Weekly Hay Report

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.

Sanders: "We had 500 tons of hay trade. Compared to last week, new crop export domestic alfalfa and orchard grass steady in a light test. Retail/stable hay was not tested. Alfalfa on the mid square bales new crop that was export quality premium sold for $160 ton at the farm FOB tarped. Orchard grass small squares fair quality sold for $170 and that was new crop for the export market."

In Idaho compared to the previous week, domestic alfalfa was steady. Trade moderate with good demand for new crop. Mid Squares of premium to supreme alfalfa new crop sold for $146 to $150 per ton while weedy mid squares of alfalfa rated good sold for $130 per ton.

In Oregon prices trended generally steady in a limited test compared to the previous week's prices. In Central Oregon large squares of supreme alfalfa sold for $120 per ton. In Lake County large squares of supreme alfalfa sold for $180 to $215 per ton. In Klamath Basin small squares of premium alfalfa/orchard mix sold for $170 per ton. Harney County and Eastern Oregon had no new sales confirmed.
