One of the points of pride of the Idaho Potato Commission is its iconic potato truck and I called President and CEO of the Commission, Frank Muir. "Our biggest potato just celebrated Memorial Day back in Washington, DC traveling in the Memorial Day parade. Our big potatoes are being celebrated all over the country. That truck continues to be a hit, right? It's getting bigger every year. This is our sixth year of the tour and we will travel over 20,000 miles this year so far. The tour miles have been well over 100,000 miles over the past six years. We visit many locations that have over 100,000 visitors there. In some cases we have had venues with over 300,000 visitors that see the truck. It’s just like this year we were invited by the NFL hall of fame to be at their parade ahead of the hall of fame game. We have been at NASA down in Houston. We get invited every year to come to the parade that leads up to the Kentucky Derby, so if you think of an iconic place, the truck has been invited to be there. We have been to several NASCAR venues. We can’t quite figure out how to get our truck to drive on those slanted oval tracks but we keep working on it. My idea is to deflate the tires on the right side and in-flight the tires on the left side. Right. We just don't want that truck rollover somehow and smashed the big potato. Great visual but not a very good message.”
