Several Weeks into the 6 month plus Winter wet season and there's not much moisture to be had.

Also, there's not much in the way of mountain snowpack reported for much of the West. USDA Meterologist Brad Rippey says the season is already showing a lot of distinct La Nina characteristics a third of the way through. He says drought conditions are returning for parts of Colorado.

"We've had a very sharp delineation between the haves and the have nots." We've seen drought returning to a number of areas."

He says the prospects for a good mountain snowpack by Spring are not looking promising. If the La Nina weather pattern continues... very little precipitation could occur for the southern Rockies and Southwest.
