As we all know, one of the key ingredients to the success of any crop producer is weed control. And we know that weeds are getting more and more difficult to control due to herbicide resistance. It turns out that Dow AgroSciences has been totally embedded in the game with their Enlist weed control system. As part of their program they have teamed up with select growers in the Corn Belt who are reporting on their experiences with grower-led research plots for the Enlist System. The plots are designed to give growers experience managing all aspects of their herbicide-tolerant technology. Growers have provided information back to Dow AgroSciences as the company continues with their technology.

Here’s how the program has worked. The Enlist plots were managed by the grower at each location with support from Enlist field specialists. Progress was tracked throughout the season. Growers in eight states took part in the research trials - including Colorado Grower Dan Anderson. Anderson talks about his experience with the current glyphosate system and how he believes Enlist will help growers in the future. “This is not a game where you want to keep doing the same thing again and again because you are going to run into giant problems and some areas of the country are worse than they are here so I feel pretty good about where we are at. I think we can be a little more proactive and the Enlist system will help that.
