12/20/05 Young Farmer and Rancher, Kindall

Jason and Dusty Kindall are raising their two children in Cambridge, the gateway town to Hells Canyon. When you ask Jason what he does for a living he says. JASON "We run honey bees. We raise honey bees for the protection of honey and some wax and we also pollinate crops such as almonds and red clover. This is a bee veil. I wear one of these because I don't care much for my face getting stung. When I'm working bees I'll probably get stung anywhere from a half dozen times to 20 or 30 times a day. You can't even open a bee hive without a smoker. They just pile all over you." DUSTY "I don't like getting stung so I have my own job." JASON "The queen bee, her only job is to lay eggs for the hive. The rest of the bees pretty much to everything else for her. That's her there. She's a little bit smaller this time of year. The bees biggest enemy is probably besides man itself is the bears. DUSTY "That's why I don't let him put any bees in our yard." The Kindalls are current chairman of YRF in Washington County. Young Farmers and Ranchers, Jason and Dusty Kindall.
