06/22/06 Twilight Tour has something for everybody

The University of Idaho Kimberly Research and Extension Center will host its second biennial Twilight Tour on July 6th. Superintendent Don Morishita expected 250 visitors to the event that he hopes will become a south-central Idaho tradition. Morishita says there's plenty for urban visitors and rural folks too. MORISHITA "Through the whole gambit of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences from family consumer sciences, 4-H things to agricultural production from crops and livestock production issues." Slated for 530 to 830 pm, the Twilight Tour will include a free barbecue dinner and a chance to meet with U of I research and extension faculty. Farmers can see the results of weed-control trials in Roundup Ready alfalfa and sugar beets and studies on the effects of storage temperature on French fry color. There's no need for visitors to neglect their own gardens while they`re at the research center having fun. They can bring along samples of the bugs, weeds and plant damage that have been puzzling them, and UI Master Gardeners will try to provide on-the-spot help. If you need more info go to the U of I website or call the Kimberly center at 423-4691. Voice of Idaho Agriculture Bill Scott
