Those of us here at the Ag information network of the West conducted a small poll and learned as much as we could about what you folks need to hear about in our news updates. One of the biggest areas of interest was insurance. Obviously that makes a lot of sense so here we go. I received this announcement from Val Dolcini, the administrator of the USDA Farm service agency in Washington DC. It is an important reminder for livestock producers. January 30, 2015 is the deadline to apply for assistance if you suffered qualifying disaster related livestock grazing losses between October 1, 2011 and December 31, 2014. The livestock indemnity program and the livestock storage program will rule authorized by the 2014 farm bill to provide relief to ranchers impacted by drought, blizzards and other natural disasters. You have just a few more days until that January 30 deadline to visit your local Farm service agency office to file an application for payment or compensation. Learn more on the web@disaster.fsa.usda.gov. You can also call your county office. Don’t wait, act today.
