Scott Rockholm has spent thousands of hours researching and reporting on the reintroduction of wolves into the United States. He has produced a documentary film and is in the process of producing a second. In these documentaries he contends that fraud, lies, deception and distortion of science are rampant amongst those who wanted the reintroduction of these predators. "Through all of that work and along with my second film which is Ghost of the Rockies, here is where the corruption really drives home. During wolf introduction and what I have uncovered through interviews with several dozen former employees of Idaho Fish and Game as well as the US Fish and Wildlife Service I found the corruption to be deep and what they did when they brought those wolves across the border from Canada was probably the most heinous thing of all. We always assume that the damage done by wolves is through their teeth but that is not the entire story. The diseases that these wolves brought with them when they crossed that border are probably going to affect us for decades to come. This includes ranchers, hunters and private citizens. When they brought those wolves across, the Lacey Act demanded that they test those wolves prior to entering the United States for any diseases. They did not do that. They tested for rabies and that was it. They didn't test for parasites and I have the records from the Canadian officials. Those were the alarm bells that went off for me. I knew that not only was my hunting going to be severely damaged, I knew that my brothers and sisters who were livestock operators were going to be impacted as well." Scott contends that disease transmission is far more deadly than a wolf's bite. These are controversial statements by Scott, but he swears by his research.
