It’s a good time to be a cattle producer irregardless of the current market. Why? Because the demand for meat just keeps growing and growing as more people throughout the world are eating beef.  I’m Susan Allen welcome to Mondays’ Open Range .Obviously the vegan anti-meat movement isn’t  gaining much of a foot hold if any  in emerging nations because worldwide  the demand for beef is on a sharp upward trend. In fact researchers speaking at the recent World Meat Congress stated something that lightens even the most  weary cow –calf producers heart.  As the amount of meat consumed per person globally   increases, obviously so does the demand for cattle. The world population is projected to hit nine billion in 2050 at that rate livestock producers today would have to double current production to meet demand . China for example  now consumes four times as much meat today than just  thirty  years ago. In fact the average consumption grew from thirty pounds per person to it’s current   one hundred and thirty one pounds per person per year. If American’s continue our trend of eating more beef   be per year than anywhere else in the world according to the United Nations Population fund a whopping 260 lbs, about a quarter of a cow,  the beef  industry in all it’s facets and despite it’s many regulations and mergers looks to have  a rosy future
