Why Not Be An Angel?

For many of us  the pressure of the Holiday season can be overwhelming that’s why we often end up depressed, not to mention exhausted. This year I’ve got a couple ideas that are effortless yet  reap untold blessing for both giver and receiver. I’m Susan Allen, Open Range will return after the break. In my mail box yesterday I received the most important gift catalog in the world, no it’s not Nieman Marcus, it’s more exotic, because it’s filled with real animals; cattle , sheep, goats, llama’s bunnies and even bee’s … Since 1944 Heifer International has worked in the areas of livestock and agriculture to alleviate hunger and poverty by teaching people to be self stainable through gifts of farm animals. Our family was deeply moved  by the Heifer organization  a few years back when we received a note that a young girl in Africa was given a lamb in memory of our son who perished in a plane accident. Visit Heifer International for the ultimate gift that keeps on giving. Another of my favorite charities is The BrookeUSA.org,  who has helped over eight hundred thousand  suffering horses, donkeys and mules to date in third  world countries. By providing free vet  treatment to animals, and training  animal owners, local healers, farriers,, feed sellers, harness and cart makers they are helping to life easier for the world's beasts of burden. To honor the donkey in the nativity scene why not sponsor a live one! The charity  operates in Asia, Africa, Central America and the Middle East. Both The Brooke Institute and Heifer International have great  track records and incredible success storyies. So this Christmas don’t just  play Santa actually become someone or some poor animals angel.
