Might be partially because my son rodeo's that for me its always tough to see an athlete like  Ryan Grey from Cheney Washington be knocked not out only out of the NFR Finals last week, but also from his chance at a world championship bareback rider title, a quest that has entertained so many rodeo fans this past year. I’m SusanAllen Open Range will be back after the break. In an event that’s been compared to riding a jack hammer, Ryan Grey, from Cheney Washington was stepped on by a horse called Golden Dream in Round 2 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo last week and suffered a liver laceration ending his dream of a 2010 world championship title.  While this was a heartbreaking turn of events for Ryan,  it got me to thinking about the many talented  cowboys for whom even making any NFR Finals will remain a dream, simply because they don’t have the deep pockets  or the time it takes to hit the professional rodeo trail. That’s why I’m excited about Western States Ranch and Rodeo Association. It’s mission is to celebrate the historic events of rodeo while  providing working men and women who love the sport, their chance to compete in sanctioned events. It’s classic rodeo, probably it’s most famous venue is the Jordon Valley Big Loop competition but there are a host of others that will be held throughout the western states this year. So if you love to cowboy....and you're good at it you might want to consider joining the Western States Ranch and Rodeo Association and show your stuff!
