PETA’S  powerful in their crusade against meat.  I’m Susan Allen you’ve joined me for Open Range and yes PETA ‘s paranoia tactics have had a trickle down effect to  consumers but finally I am beginning to note cohesive offensive moves  from the ranching community not in their right to raise cattle but in their ability to share their pride and passion about beef with the public. When Open Range returns, how about an MBA in Beef Advocacy? One of the reason’s the beef industry has not aggressively taken on the anti meat activists is simply it takes time, one luxury the ranchers I know don’t have.  When the far left are storming the Wisconsin Capitol or you see  PETA protesters outside of schools handing out flyers, it does make one wonder when, where  and if these folks ever hold a real job. Anyway, two years ago the National Cattlemen’s  Beef Association started an MBA program  with the intent to empower ranchers, feedlot operators, chefs... really any one passionate about the beef industry to become an advocate. To date nearly 2,000 people have completed the course with the NCBA’s goal of at least twenty thousand more. To get a degree in beef advocacy  students are required to attend six online lectures plus a day long seminar that focuses on using the latest PR methods to tell the epic narrative of the American Rancher, yes for most producers their life is just that, a romance with horses and cattle and a unique way of life.  To become an advocate for the American Rancher please contact the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.
