New NCBA President Elected at Last Week's Cattle Industry Convention

A new President of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association was elected — Craig Uden, a fourth-generation cattleman with a commercial cattle feeding operation from Elwood Nebraska — at last week's Cattle Industry Convention. More than 9,300 people attended this year's convention which marked the all-time record high attendance.

Uden shares more about his goals for 2017

Uden: "Really working toward involving more producers on the understanding. That goes back to the very positive relationship we have with our states. This is a grassroots organization and the states that contribute bring the ideas, the challenges, the issues — whether that is checkoff or policy. It is vetted and discussed and solutions put in place and it goes back out to the country through the states. We have a tremendously good state-national partnership that I'm proud of. I've been to several states and it is amazing how different we raise beef in different parts of the country but at the end of the day — ti is all center of the plate. That is quality, nutritious, safe, wholesome product that people want. We have the highest quality, safest product anywhere. We have the highest amount of beef grading choice today in the history of beef production. Is it making a difference, you bet it is because we have the quality product at the center of the plate."
