I always enjoy bringing light and attention to amazing organizations that ag folks are involved in. Keith Nantz, partner and General Manager of Dillon Land and Cattle Company, shares more about a Northeastern Oregon local effort that has been in existence since 2013 called Outdoor Adventures with Military Heroes. He shares more

Nantz: “We really saw a big need out there to help some of these veterans go through the distraught they are going through. And then just introducing them back in to the great outdoors and getting them back out there and then camaraderie between the vets when they get out there together. Last year we did a turkey hunt, we did some doe hunts, we did a fishing trip, we did an elk hunt. This year we are adding on some buck hunts, possible a big bull tag and possible some packing and fishing into the high mountains. There are seven of us on the executive board here locally, both retired policemen and firefighters and myself. It has been just a wonderful opportunity to give back to these veterans that have served us.”

Nantz says that these activities usually include from two to four veterans per event and it is all free for the veterans — thanks to generous sponsors. He continues by sharing more of their past expansion details.

Nantz: “This year we are expanding — we’ve only been pooling from Wasco County. This year we are actually expanding to Hood River County, Wasco, Sherman, Gilham Counties, Jefferson and Deschutes County as well.
