EPA Administrator Asks Cattlemen to Submit WOTUS Comments

With your land and Livestock Report I’m Susan Allen. The Deadline for comments about the Waters of the US rule and repealing it is right around the corner, next Monday. Scott Pruitt, Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, recently visited Frasier Ranch outside Last Chance, Colorado, because he wants input from local ranchers about WOTUS. He wants cattle ranches to submit comments to the EPA on the Waters of the U.S. rule repeal. Pruitt made his plea in a video released by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, urging farmers and ranchers to submit official comments on the repeal of the WOTUS rule before the Agency's deadline of next Monday, Aug. 28, 2017. Pruitt says the comments: “helps inform our decision-making processMeanwhile, Ranchers throughout the nation and especially in the Southwest have reported an increase in livestock related crimes, including rustling and shooting. SouthWest Farm Press Reports that in rural New Mexico counties dead livestock has been discovered on a number of ranches, Officials are struggling to determine who shot and killed cows and steers with no apparent motive. Cattle were shot with a high powered rifle and left dead on the ground. Meat was not taken . The combined livestock losses for July the six cows dead on two ranches, have been estimated to be between $17,000 and $20,000. from that incident have been estimated to be between $17,000 and $20,000.
