For the first time ever, New Orleans will host the American Sheep Industry Association’s Annual Convention January 23-26.

And this year’s convention theme is "When the Sheep Go Marching In."

Burdell Johnson is a past ASI president from Tuttle, North Dakota and he’s the current chairman of the ASI’s Young Entrepreneurs Committee. He says ASI has some special sessions during the 2019 convention geared to allow the YE group to network and innovate to improve their operations.

"ASI Young Entrepreneurs are young and beginning sheep producers, generally 21-40 years of age" said Johnson. "ASI has some special sessions during convention geared to allow the YE group to network and innovate to improve their operations and offers a summer tour for this group."

The American Sheep Industry Association understands that attending a convention can be a big commitment for young producers, so to help offset the cost and encourage networking for new and young producers they offer a scholarship for these YE’s, up to $200 off the cost of full registration.

Interested producers can get more information by contacting the ASI office in Denver or visiting them online at www.sheepusa.org.
