Zippy Visits

When it comes to recent politics and presidents, it has been rather heated and energetic to say the very least. We have a tweeting president and then we, in agriculture, have a visiting president. While fulfilling a promise he made when he got elected, Idaho received a visit recently from Zippy Duvall, the president of the American Farm Bureau Federation. I asked him to fill us all in on his commitment. "My commitment was to go to all 50 states in the first two years of my presidency and get out of the grassroots and talk to farmers and volunteers across this country so that I could represent their issues by experiencing it with them and hearing their stories. It's just made me a really effective Pres. because you never know who I'm going to be sitting in front of next week in Washington DC, whether it be a senator, or a chairman of a committee or the President of the United States. It's great to have the opportunity to share our grassroots opinions and issues with those people." When we welcomed the president to Idaho, we promised him he would see some great agriculture. "I'm real excited about it. I have seen the agenda and it looks like I'm going to see a lot of different things so we are really excited to be here and this is a beautiful place.
