Pendleton Hat company. Hey cowboy. You want a real cowboy hat. I’ve got just the place for you. It’s called the Pendleton Hat company in Pendleton, Oregon home of the Pendleton Rodeo. I called the owner, Perk Perkins who had supplied the head of the Ag Information Network of the West, Kelly Allen, with his own real cowboy hat. Listen to the process. “through the process of making the hat, we first identify what kind of crown they want. That’s how we are going to block it. We block it to a certain size. Then we finish it, depends on the finish that they want. If they want a grizzly finish or a refined finish. Once we get that put together, we get it all sanded down into place then spray it with isopropyl alcohol, we light it on fire and burn off the nubbins. We go over it with a sponge and once we get that done, we press the brim and sand it and once we get that done, we set the sweatband in by hand, hand stitch it or machine stitch it and then we put a silk liner in them. Then we go through the creasing process. If we are doing a custom hat, we like to have the customer there so we can crease the hat in front of them. They are interactive in how they want the hat to look. Once we get the crease in, we go in and finish the brim. All depends on what they want done with the brim. Natural Western look for the front tipped like Dwight Yocum.
