Angus Taste Differential

Katie Ochsner is a marketing specialist for the Red Angus Association and I asked her if there was a difference in taste between red and black Angus beef. "Some people would say there isn't and historically, red and black Angus are from the same bloodline. The Red Angus Association of America was founded in 1954 and it was because the Angus Association decided that they were no longer going to allow red hided cattle to be registered under the Angus Association. Genetically, originally there was no difference between the two except for hide color, but now that they have been in two separate associations for 50+ years, there is a little bit of genetic variation and I think that both Angus and red Angus are known to be well marbled cattle and so I would think as far as quality of beef, there is little difference between the two."
