Wheat Trades Mixed on Monday

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for September 9, 2014.
We begin this week with mixed wheat markets on Monday. From the floor of the CME Group, Joe Vaclavik shares his observations of Monday’s markets.
Vaclavik: “The wheat market did its own thing. It was lower for most of the day, but did bounce back late in the session - kind of mixed closes there in the wheat. Now moving forward we will keep an eye on the weather forecasts. Any big frost or freeze threat here over the next couple of weeks will be considered a little bit friendly to these markets. We’ve also got a USDA report out on Thursday morning and a lot of traders believe that the government will up their production forecasts for both corn and soybeans — so that is what we are looking for.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Monday down 1 and 3/4 cents at 5-33 and 1/2. December corn ended the day down 7 and 3/4 cents at 3-48 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were mixed down 6 and 3/4 to up 4 and 3/4 cents at mostly 6-89. White club wheat prices were mixed up a nickel to down 6 and 3/4 cents at mostly 9-14. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were mixed down 3/4 of a cent to up 74 and 1/4 cents at mostly 8-85 and 3/4.
