Relatively Quiet Friday in Grain Markets But Limit Up in Cattle

Friday saw relatively quiet trade for grain markets however, the market was hot in the live and feeder cattle markets with many contracts ending limit up. USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders shares
Sanders: “Northwest Direct Cattle Report, we had a little over 5,500 head of feeder cattle trade this week. Compared to last week, feeder calves less than 800 pounds steady to weak. Feeder cattle over 800 were steady to $3 higher. 550-weights value-added for current deliver sold at $290 per hundred weight. 650 to 700 pound calves sold from $226 to $228 for October/November delivery. 8-to-9-weights sold from $215 to $220 for October through November deliver FOB Idaho.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Friday up a 1/4 of a cent at 4-74 and 1/4. December corn ended the day down 3 cents at 3-23.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were mixed down 10 and 3/4 cents to up a quarter of a cent at mostly 6-54 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were mixed down 9 to up a 1/4 of a cent at mostly 8-85 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 4 and 1/2 to 14 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-06 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were down 3 cents at mostly 8-00 and 1/4.
October live cattle were limit up $3 on Friday at 158-45. October Feeder cattle were limit up $3 at 233-10. October class III milk was down 44 cents at 24-29.
