Friday Ends Positively Across the Board in the Grains

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for March 23, 2015.
Friday ends positively across the board in the grain markets. USDA Grain and Livestock Greg Sanders gives an update on the region’s cattle market.
Sanders: “Feeder cattle this week — we had 3,100 head trade. Compared to last Friday, feeder cattle were steady to weak in a light test. On Wednesday cattle futures blasted higher with triple digit gains. Indeed a small handful of contracts in both pits finished limit up supported by aggressive short-covering and technical buying. Feeder steers medium to large frame #1s and #2s current FOB 800 to 900 pounds $190 to $191 in Washington and Oregon. Feeder heifers current delivered prices 800 to 850 pounds $192 to $196 in Idaho.”
Chicago May Wheat ended Friday up 18 cents at 5-30. May corn ended the day up 11 and 1/2 cents at 3-85.
Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein were steady to up 18 cents at mostly 6-47 and 1/2. White club wheat of ordinary protein prices were steady to up 18 cents at mostly 8-87 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 19 and 1/4 cents at mostly 6-79 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 16 and 3/4 cents at mostly 8-99 and 1/2.
June live cattle were up 25 cents on Friday at 150-47 and half. May Feeder cattle were down 27 and half cents at 215-40. May class III milk was down 4 cents at 15-11.
