I’m Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for September 28th. Today we check in with last week’s prices on the cattle market for both feeder and slaughters. There were some slightly depressed numbers as we go to Gregg Sanders for the feeder cattle summary.

Sanders “We had 3100 head of feeder cattle trade this week in the country, compared to last Friday. Feeder cattle were $7-$17 lower, trade was slow with light to light to moderate demand in response to lower CME prices. Feeder Steers, medium large frame, 1 and 2’s current FOB price 550-600 lbs. $2.13 in WA.”

Chicago December Wheat ended yesterday up 10 1/2, at 508 1/4. December corn ended the day down 7 1/2, at 389. Portland prices for soft white wheat of ordinary protein for October, were up 10 ½, ranging from 5-37 3/4 to 5-41 even. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for September were up 10 1/4, at mostly 6-17 1/4. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for September were up 8 3/4 at mostly 6-45 3/4. October live cattle closed yesterday up $3, at 133.70. October Feeder cattle were up $4.50, at 184.60. October class III milk was down 6 cents, at 15-51.
