This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for Monday, Sept 19th. Cattle trying to rally Friday but 2017 forecast could be dim. Here's Greg Sanders with the weekly National cattle review from the USDA.

Sanders "National slaughter cattle review for Thursday, Sept. 15th 2016. On Thursday negotiated cash trading of beef type cattle was at a standstill in the southern plains in Colorado. Thursday evening and Friday morning in Nebraska in the western corn belt trading was limited on light demand. A few dress sales in Nebraska sold from $1.66 to $1.70. In the western corn belt a few live and dress sales sold from $1.05 to $1.07 ½."

Chicago March Wheat prices closed Friday up 2 ¾, at 425 ¼. March corn ended the week up 7, at 346 ¼. Portland prices for soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein for Dec. ended the day up 3 ¾ to unch, ranging from 4-73 ¼ to 4-91. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for Dec. were up 1 ¼, ranging from 5-02 ¼ to 5-27 ¼. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for Dec. was up 1 ½, ranging from 5-87 ¾ to 6-12 ¾. Feb. Live Cattle were up $1.07 ½, to finish the day at 108.30. Nov. Feeder cattle were up $1.37 ½, to close the day at 130.47 ½. Nov. class III milk was Dn 16 cents at 16-24.
