This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for Jan. 23rd. The cattle market has been slowly but surely climbing as we take another look at last week's prices. Here's Greg Sanders with the USDA to cover the weekly National Slaughter Cattle review.

Sanders "National Slaughter Cattle Review for Thursday, negotiated cash trade was moderate on good demand in all feeding regions. Compared to last week in the Texas Panhandle, live sales sold $3-$4 higher from $122 to $123. In Kansas and Colorado, compared to last week live sales sold $3 higher at $122. In Nebraska compared to last week, live sales sold $3-$4 higher with sales ranging from $121 to $122.50."

As we take a look at those Chicago markets, July wheat prices closed the day up 3 ¼, at 458 ½. Chicago July Corn prices were up 3, to finish the day at 383 ¼. Prices in Portland for Soft White Winter Wheat of ordinary protein for May were up 4 to 1 ¼, ranging from 4-43 ¼ to 4-53 ¼. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 % protein, future prices for April were up ¾, ranging from 5-25 to 5-40. DNS Wheat with 14 % protein, prices for April were dn 3 ¾, ranging from 6-80 ½ to 6-85 ½. June Live Cattle finished the week dn 47 ½ cents, at 108.75. April Feeder cattle were up 62 ½ cents, at 130.35. March class III milk was dn a penny at 17-41.
