This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for March 6th. Feeder cattle remain steady over the week as prices slowly climb to finish the week. Let’s check in with Gregg Sanders as he shares the weekly cattle update with the USDA.

Sanders “National Slaughter Cattle review for Thursday, On Thursday in the Southern Plains trading was limited on light demand not enough purchases for a market trend. Wednesday was the last report in market in both regions and live purchases from $1.24 to $1.25 in the Texas Panhandle and at $1.25 in Kansas. In Nebraska and the Western Corn Belt on Thursday saw trading moderate on good demand, in Nebraska compared to last reported market on Wednesday.”

Chicago markets, July wheat prices closed the day up 1 ¼, at 467 ½. Chicago July Corn prices were up 1, to finish the week at 387. Prices in Portland for Soft White Winter Wheat of ordinary protein for Aug. NC were unch – up 1, ranging from 4-73 to 4-82 ¼. Hard Red Winter Wheat with 11.5 % protein, future prices for Aug. NC were up 1, ranging from 5-56 ½ to 5-71 ½. DNS Wheat with 14 % protein, prices for June were dn 4 ¾, ranging from 6-64 to 6-79. Aug. Live Cattle finished Friday up 32 ½ cents, at 102.25. May Feeder cattle were up 67 ½ cents, at 122.30. May class III milk was up 6 cents at 16-10.
