Wheat and Livestock Futures Down on Monday

Here with a market update for Monday is Allendale Brokers, John Georgy who says that in the grain complex wheat was down, corn up slightly and soybeans were up about a dime.

Georgy: "A lot of that due to a weaker dollar. Also calling for a lot of precipitation thought the Mid-West and the Delta areas — so we will see if that happens. There is talk already of planting delays. So we will see if that comes to fruition or not. Cattle is down sharply due to the high placement numbers for the Cattle on Feed report on Friday."

Chicago May Wheat prices closed Monday down 2 1/2 at 4-02 and 1/2. May corn ended the day up 2 and 1/4 at 3-59 and 1/4.

Portland prices for May soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein ended the day mixed from dn 2 1/2 to up a 1/4 ranging from 4-22 and 1/2 to 4-70 and 1/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for May were down 2 and ¾ ranging from 4-76 3/4 to 4-91 and 3/4. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for May were dn a nickel ranging from 6-21 ½ to 6-56 ½ .

June live cattle were down $1.85 , at 114.85 May feeder cattle were dn $1.80 at 137-45. May class III milk was down 3 cents at 15-61.
