A conversation with Bitner Vineyards owner Ron Bitner where he talked about a bitter winter and the positives of growing wine in Idaho. That weather that we had through here, for some reason this is one of the better sites in idaho but anilated us growers right here. My red block looks healthy but theres no fruit on them. They made it through the winter but then lost and killed the fruit bud, so theres no crop on that. This block over here, my neighbors, is an example of cold weather and varietal selection... the bushy cabs survived the winter.

In 2012 we won double gold, 7000 wineries. In Idaho we used to hope for a bronze, now, not just me but we've won several golds with my Temerneals. they're putting us on the map

This winter was harsh, people keep warning me about the farmers almanac that says next winter will be even worse, I hope not. this is a great place to grow wine grapes.
