This is Bob Larson with the Market Line Report for Thursday, Sept 27th. Cattle holds firm in Wednesday trading. From the floor of the CME in Chicago, here's Virginia McGathey.

McGATHEY ... "Cattle was actually kind of quiet, but the market still started to creep higher. There has been some price support that's really keeping the futures very firm. There was a small spike in the market actually right out of the box and it rallied up and it brought in some sellers and it pushed it back to kind of unchanged, but as the day ended some buying came back and maybe up, maybe $1.65 in even the deferred months really were a little bit firmer. That tells me that there is a little bit of optimism on the horizon. The feeders were higher. The placements were higher than last year so we expected that maybe we're moving into the end of the third quarter with a little bit of momentum."
