House Passes WOTUS Overregulation act

On Tuesday a bipartisan U.S. House majority has passed a bill to sideline the EPA’s controversial ‘Waters of The U.S.’ rule, to vastly expand the agency’s control of U.S. waters. The House as expected, gave strong approval to block a sweeping increase in EPA water jurisdiction—a move many in both parties see as a federal ‘land grab’ that will cripple agriculture and other activities.
Killing EPA’s proposed rule has become the top priority of ag producers and others around the nation. Even those in coal country are fighting it—West Virginia Congressman Nick Rahall says
Rahall: “These proposed regulations have only stirred up more worry and aggravation and frankly anger. In truth the only certainty these regulations provide is the sure knowledge that under them — anyone undertaking nearly any activity involving in so much as a ditch in the United States will have to deal with the bureaucracy called the EPA.”
The president warned a veto threat in a Statement of Administration Policy stating that the administration strongly opposes HR 5078 stating that the bill would QUOTE “Derail current efforts to clarify the scope of the Clean Water Act, hamstring future regulatory efforts, and create significant ambiguity regarding existing regulation and guidance.”
