Bison Study and Recall

Bison Study and Recall

Bison Survey & Recall plus New Weed App. I'm Greg Martin with today's Northwest Report.

A first time ever study of the bison industry is getting ready to go out. Dave Carter, Executive Director of the National Bison Association, urges bison producers to complete the USDA survey when it arrives in their mailboxes.

CARTER: The folks at APHIS up at Fort Collins here in Colorado have worked with us very closely to navigate through this and to develop this survey and we're really excited that we're on track to have this going out at the end of the month and we really encourage every producer out there that has a bison on their place to open this, to answer it and help us tell the USDA what is the best way that they can target their assistance to us.

nSpired Natural Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain retail lots of Arrowhead Mills® Peanut Butters, MaraNatha® Almond Butters and Peanut Butters and specific private label nut butters packaged in glass and plastic jars because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Products were distributed across the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, and Dominican Republic. The products also were available for purchase on the internet. The recall is being made with the knowledge of the FDA.

Now a newly developed smartphone-tablet app helps farmers and backyard gardeners alike identify those weeds in their fields and gardens. Rod Bain has the story.
