It's quickly approaching farmers market season and it seems that every year we are seeing more and more markets with more participants and that's part of an overall change that impacts everyone. Recently, former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman spoke about the changes taking place in the food and ag industries.

GLICKMAN: And the change is very rapid and a lot of that is being impacted by locally involved agriculture where people get to see farmers and see the items that are produced. I see this world as just dramatic, positive, changing and not just involving a few folks. Food and agriculture involves everyone.

Did anyone notice that it was a fairly warm winter? Meteorologist Brad Rippey notes many Western states had some of their warmest and/or wettest October to March periods on record this past winter - those records going back 121 years.

RIPPEY: It was the warmest October to March period on record for Montana, the third warmest in Wyoming, the fourth warmest in Washington, California and Idaho, and in fact if you look at all 11 western states, they were in the top 15 of those 121 years. Looking at the wetness rankings, number one on the list was Washington State. They had their sixth wettest October to March period. We had two other states in the top 20. Those being Nevada at 15th wettest and Oregon, 19th wettest.
