This is your Northwest report for Wednesday, January 25, I'm David Sparks and as we reported yesterday, onion packing plants and onion storage facilities in Idaho and Oregon have had their roofs collapse due to the weight of snow and rain. That is going to affect production numbers for onions. I talked with Ken Stewart, sales and operations manager for Four Rivers onion packing plant. I had been told that the price of a bag of onions was around $3.50. Ken said not so fast.

Meanwhile dairy producers in the Northwest have responded in a different way in terms of in terms of milk output. Returns look better so producers have cranked up production. USDA analysts have predicted national 2017 milk output to top last year by 4.6 billion pounds to make it over 217 billion pounds which is a 2% increase over 2016.
