Cattle Transportation Symposium

Cattle Transportation Symposium

The Cattle Transportation Symposium is set for May 14-15 in Fort Collins, Colo.National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Manager of Beef Quality Assurance Chase DeCoite says this new symposium will address issues and new research concerning the U.S cattle transportation system.
DeCoite: “We are putting on this symposium as a venue for industry experts and stakeholders to really discuss the issues and the research and potential solutions that we can have in the United States that are directly related to cattle transportation for both the dairy side and the beef cattle side and all that goes into that. Really with the goal of providing some clarity as to the current state of the industry and what the future of it will look for cattle transportation.”
Who is the target audience to attend this symposium?
DeCoite: “We really want everyone to be there and be a part of this discussion. Everyone from the cow-calf producer all the way up to the feedyard manager. Then the packers as well as the livestock auction markets. We really think that everyone has a stake in cattle transportation because it is really that unifying part of the industry that connects all of those industry segments. So the way we put together this agenda is we are touching all those different industry segments: we are touching on the dairymen and cow-calf producers; we touching on the feed yards. We have components of this agenda that will discuss issues of the livestock auction market as well as a key component of the industry we would like to see attend is the cattle transporters.”
