Reverse Trade Mission Brings International U.S. Beef Customers to Idaho

Agri Beef exports to 26 countries under names such as Snake River Farms, St. Helens Beef, Double R Ranch and Rancho Elora. So when the U.S. Meat Export Federation recently sponsored a reverse trade mission for nine U.S. beef importers from: Sinagpore Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, and The Philippines the group stopped by AgriBeef plant to tour. AgriBeef Marketing Manager Seth Mortensen says
Mortensen: “U.S.MEF partners with beef exporters in the U.S. to us develop markets overseas. They had a group of buyers that were over in the U.S. — touring not only our plant but a few plants in the Mid-West as well — so that they could see how the U.S. production works but all of our safety measures and quality assurances in place.”
Mortenson shares the impressions of the visitors
Mortenson: “Everybody on the tour had positive comments. A lot of the people on the tour were actually customers of AgriBeef so it was really nice for them to see where their product was coming for.”
Earlier this year AgriBeef actually shipped the first U.S. beef ever into Myanmar .
Mortensen: “It’s still early on in the process but it’s been going well so far. We are starting to ship orders on a more regular basis and they’re definitely starting to build the business in Myanmar .”
