While the House and Senate work on getting a farm bill passed, many farmers hope the 2018 omnibus farm bill passes intact. The omnibus holds the key to legalizing Industrial hemp for growers.

Industrial hemp is illegal in many states. In fact, right now, only 35 states can grow hemp, but only through research plots.

Along with the industrial applications - CBD oil can also be made from industrial hemp.

Hannah Smith with Joy Organics, which sells CBD oil and other hemp products, says hemp could be a great boost for farmers.

Smith says many people are simply afraid of trying CBD Oil.

If hemp is legalized, Santra advises farmers to move into growing hemp slowly, as a way to diversify production. Hemp has lots of industrial applications, from textiles to construction materials and livestock feed.
