Hi everybody it's time for your Land and Livestock Report here on the Ag Information Network of the West-I'm Russell Nemetz.

Last week it was sure fun to see other farm broadcasters-like this Network's Bob Larson-at the National Association of Farm Broadcasting Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. And there's never a lack of newsmakers on hand but this year no bigger than Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue himself.

In fact, the Secretary spent about two hours with us with the last hour a question and answer session where he opened the floor to questions about big issues impacting today's U.S. agriculture industry.

And one of the big topics here of late has been trade and the Secretary answered a question regarding the future of trade deals under President Trump and whether they will be bi-lateral in nature versus multi-lateral like we've seen in the past.

"I think certainly under this administration they will. The President has specifically noted that. He believes he can negotiate better one-on-one such as a group like TPP. Other countries are watching our progress on NAFTA and seeing how the Canadians and Mexicans are interacting with the U.S. in order to engage with us."

Of course the NAFTA renegotiating process is underway as we speak.

That's your Land and Livestock Report-I'm Russell Nemetz.
