4-1 SS Venezuala

Pass shooting pigeons in Venezuala. Bob Angel has hunted all over the world from lion in Tanzania to Cape Buffalo in South Africa. Today’s adventure takes us to Venezuela where Bob Hooks up with some local guides to hunt for pigeons. Bob’s a fascinating guy who is an expert outdoorsman and a wonderful storyteller. Let’s pick things up as he describes outfitters who specialize in pigeon hunting. “These outfitters who specialize in pigeon hunting you have a wide variety of hunting, you have pass shooting, as the pigeons come into a field to feed you have pass shooting and as they leave the fields going to a roost you actually have pass shooting as they go into the roost which down there are very tall eucalyptus and blue gum trees. It’s very sporting sometimes you shooting 50 to 60 yards at them. But the most fun is to find a field that has been recently harvested, a lot of seed crops are grown down there not just maze and corns and they decoy readily to other pigeons that have been shot and are lying in the field. But they have a machine that they call a pigeon carousel which is to arms and the motor and at the end of each arm is a little kind of a crucifix where you attach a dead pigeon and it circles very slowly and to all the other pigeons in the area it looks like circling birds and it attracts them and they will decoy and actually try and land on that moving carousel and it’s fantastic.
