6-21 SS Teeney 2

As we learned yesterday, Jim Teeny grew up in a family that loved the outdoors with fishing and hunting being everyday activities. He started tying flies when he was 12 years old and has gone on to establish a fabulous career in flyfishing. But at the root of his career was a hobby. Here  he is to explain: “You would say that your beginnings as a fly fisherman came because you loved tying flies. Absolutely. That is how I started and then if you’re tired of fly and you went out and you caught a fish on that fly it was extremely special, something that you created yourself. I was 12 then, I am 65 today, I’m still tying flies like crazy and love every minute of it.”

Jim has appeared on many television shows teaching and sharing his innovations and techniques with interested fly fishermen from all across our land and other countries. He has authored articles in major fishing publications and been featured in articles by other authors as well. Jim's new book, Fly Fishing Great Waters, documents the fly fishing adventures of his life with a focus on some of his favorite fly fishing spots in the world. One of Jim's proudest moments was taking the Gold at the "Pacific Rim Fly Fishing Tournament" held in B.C. Canada September 2007.
